The beginning
In a small cozy townhouse on Gogol St. in Sofia six kindergartners and three teachers mark the beginning of Uwekind’s history.
First Grade 1s
A second Uwekind home opens its doors for the first time to its first-graders.
First camp at Uwekind
The first Uwekind adventure outside the classroom marks the beginning of the most typical aspect of our school life – the camps.
Primary School
The first classes at the primary level took place at the “real” school building, surrounded by the Knyazhevo forest.
The first international camp in Germany
In 2008 an exciting partnership started between Uwekind and Erlebnistage Germany, which continues until this day. Many Uwekinder generations grew up with unforgettable summer and winter language adventures.
The first ski camp in Austria
“Conquesting” foreign lands and getting to know different cultures became the favourite challenge for small and big Uwekinder.
Middle Years Programme
Uwekind enlarges its education conception with its first international program and becomes the only IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) school in Bulgaria.
The first high-school graduation
Our first Uwekind kindergartners graduate from Grade 12 and become an integral part of the world.
Diploma Programme
IB programmes, implemented at Uwekind, are now two. We were authorized to teach the pre-university Diploma Programme (DP).
Graduation of the first MYP class
Our first MYP students graduated from the program by successfully taking the first in the world onscreen IB exams.
International Primary Curriculum
With the introduction of the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) at the primary school, the international programmes at Uwekind now encompass all levels of school education.
First place at the Sofia Basketball Championship
The sports are an inseparable part of school life at Uwekind. After a multitude of awards at individual disciplines, our basketball team became the champion of Sofia and came in 4th place in Bulgaria.
20th Anniversary at Uwekind
We celebrate the 20th anniversary at Uwekind with 370 students and 70 teachers of 22 subjects in 3 prestigious international programmes.
First DP Graduation class
The 2018 Uwekind class is the first class that obtained two diplomas – the Bulgarian one and the IB diploma, with excellent scores, higher than the world average.
The new High School building
Our high school has a new home. 450 students are being taught in three international programmes.
