» In which school buildings are the different classes located?
Children from the kindergarten and the preschool class learn on 4 Deyan Georgiev St. in Boyana.
Grades 1-4 learn at the Elementary school on 136 Voyvodina Mogila St. in Knyazhevo.
Students from Grades 5-12 learn on 48 Vladayska St.
» What is the daily school routine?

Kindergarten and preschool
Classes – 8.15 – 15.30
Working hours – 8.00 – 18.00

Grades 1-4
Classes – 8.15 – 15.30
Working hours – 8.00 – 16.45

5 – 12 клас
Classes – 8.00 – 15.30
Working hours – 8.00 – 16.00
On Fridays, high school students (Grades 8-12) finish at 12.40.

» When does the school year start and finish?

The school year begins on the 15th of September and finishes as follows:

  • Preschool – Grade 6 students finish on the 15th of June
  • Grade 7-12 students finish on the 30th of June
  • The kindergarten works from 8:00 to 18:00 every workday from the 1st of September to the 31st of July. The kindergarten is closed on weekends, national Bulgarian holidays, between Christmas and New Year’s and in August.
» When are the students’ vacations?
01.11.2019 – 03.11.2019 – fall vacation
21.12.2019 – 05.01.2020 – Christmas vacation
05.02.2019 г. – end of the first term vacation
11.04.2020 – 20.04.2020 – spring vacation for Grades 1-11

The Teaching Process

» How many children are there in a class?
The maximum student amount in kindergarten, preschool and Grades 1-4 is 22. Grades 5-12 contain between 16 and 33 students, divided into smaller groups for specific subjects.
» What languages are taught at Uwekind?
The Uwekind curriculum offers two foreign languages – German and English. You can find out more about the foreign language instruction vision and policy on the page called “Foreign Language Instruction”. Other foreign languages are offered in after-school clubs.
» Does the school offer any extra-curricular activities?
The school offers various activities of interest after classes. The list of clubs and workshops is announced at the beginning of the school year. Every year we offer track-and-field, martial arts, ballet, mathematics, languages (German, Russian, Spanish, French), creative writing, DJing and others.

Additional services

» What kind of transport service does the school offer?
The school offers a morning and afternoon transport service. It can be used in both directions or only in one. It is important to declare the wish to use the service in advance. If your family lives in a more remote spot, it is possible that we won’t be able to provide the transport service to your address.
» Is there a food plan for the students?
Uwekind provides a hot lunch and two snacks to kindergarten, preschool and Grade 1-4 students. We provide only a lunch to Grades 5-12. It is possible for students to bring their own snacks and lunches from home.

Health and learning support

» Is there a nurse at Uwekind?
Yes, there is a nurse in each Uwekind building, which takes care of the children’s diet and health.
» Is there a psychologist or a speech therapist at the school?
There is a psychologist and a speech therapist that work with the children from kindergarten, preschool and Grades 1-4. They also provide support to the teaching staff in choosing the right teaching strategies and approaches.
